Making a Difference

ADWAN is dedicated to giving advocacy trainings, raising the voice for the voiceless, and educating and empowering the marginalized and Dalits about their rights. Our team of professionals is experienced in creating social change and we are passionately committed to achieving justice for all.

ADWAN has marvelous potential to change the status of Dalit & Marginalized girls & women through advocacy. We realizing; advocacy is a core process for addressing the disparities women face, bringing the issue to the forefront of the agenda for decision makers. And given our mandate, experience and national recognition, we are in a strong position to speak on behalf of women and enable them to speak on their own behalf. ADWAN has a recommendable history of realizing this potential. Since its establish in 1998, advocacy has been one of the organization’s key functions and at the major part of the programs, which over the years, has been centralize in efforts to fulfill women’s rights.

ADWAN’s advocating through fits into a range of activities that include organizing, lobbying and campaigning.

  1. To raise voice of voiceless: ADWAN is committed to being a voice for the voiceless – a voice for the poor, and vulnerable rural girls and women. We’re committed to bringing voice for voiceless to their cause through our many advocacy and awareness trainings & workshops.  ADWAN’s boards and staffs travel extensively to projects areas and conducts Group Discussion Meetings, organize seminars & workshops, conduct short and medium terms of training for raising awareness about women’s rights, Gender based violence for combating and stopping all kinds of discrimination against Girls and Women. ADWAN also uses print media, broadcasting media, visual clips, and social media to raise the voice of voiceless and make them aware and capable to raise their voice themselves.

  2. To support one-another: ADWAN believes; support one another is a wonderful thing to advocate on own and someone else’s behalf. ADWAN gives empowerment tools through formation of women groups to work together because ADWAN knows more than one person speaks up about an issue is stronger and result oriented. ADWAN continues sensitizes group members about community advocacy and prepare them for acting to support each other for make positive social change.

  3. To get involved: ADWAN empowered girls and women and encouraged them to involved in community works through women groups, users groups, management committee of schools and government offices, political parties, election and the programs that organized by government and non government institution. ADWAN believes the meaningful involvement in those social structures; provides powerful platform for advocating on the issues of girls and women that ensure women’s rights.

  4. To educate next generation: An African proverb says, “If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family – and a whole nation.” ADWAN believes; by sending a girl to school, she is far more likely to ensure that her children also receive an education. ADWAN recognized the importance of education for development and women are agents of development. So that; ADWAN is advocating women to educate their girls because investing in a girl’s education is investing in nation.

  5. To know their rights: ADWAN is strengthen the capacity of girls and women to use human rights to combat entrenched poverty, discrimination, injustice and to secure position socially, politically and economically. ADWAN organize trainings in human rights issues for strengthen the capacity of girl and women and it helps them to; 1) Ensure increased participatory and sustainable solution. 2) Provide common standards against domestic violence.  3) Enhance accountability beyond political systems.

  6. To make them leader: Through ADWAN’s intensive workshop, trainings, seminars and group discussion; girls and women strengthen their leadership, learn new skills and develop strategies to improve the lives of girls and women in their communities. They actively participate in local governance, political parties and other social norms and establish themselves as community leaders.
